Milestone 0 - Team formation
During this first two weeks, we developed the "Roadbook Recorder" startup idea. We also enlarged and organized our team.
13.10 - 17.10
Milestone 1 - Initial Fiki
For the second project milestone, we created an initial version of our fiki.

Milestone 2 - Customer Discovery
We went through the customer discovery process: We identified our potential customer, we gathered contact information, we created a plan to reach potential customers and gather information in order to validate our startup idea.

Milestone 3 - Landing page
We created an initial version of our wireframe and landing page.

Milestone 4 - User persona, User stories, User interviews
We created a user persona and we designed some use cases for our application. We also approached a few of our potential customers. So far, we managed to perform 2 phone interviews.

How it works
Initially, the route is covered with a means of transport, so that GPS coordinates are recorded.
A GXP file is generated using any GPS map app, like OruxMaps.
The GPX file is imported in the Roadbook Recorder app.
The mobile app relies on a server that will process the GPX and will generate the roadbook.
The roadbook is displayed in the app.
The user can scroll up or down through the document while navigating.
If needed, the document can be manually edited by double tapping on any sections.
Customer Segments
The Roadbook Recorder solution is to be used by rally organizers, or anybody who is passionate about motorsport and would like an easy to use tool to generate and manipulate roadbooks for personal use.
Competition
Seekers
A web application that allows the user to import a GPX track and to convert that track to a route. This will match the track to roads, detect off-road sections and integrate waypoints to be reached.
Rally Navigator
A web application that allows the user to manually trace the desired route on a map and to design and edit the Roadbook based on it.
Kurviger
A web / mobile application that allows the user to plan a route by placing waypoints on a map. The user can also ugenerate a Roadbook type document in the form of an Excel worksheet, containing information about the waypoints.
Rabbit Rally
A mobile application that allows you to manually draw roadbooks. As the track is covered with a means of transport, the application automatically calculates the distance that was covered. At any point on the track, the user can stop and add a new entry in the roadbook.
Why Roadbook Recorder?
Compared to other web based applications that allow roadbook generation, Roadbook Recorder has the advantage of being a mobile app that is easier to use.
Apart from generating the roadbook, the app allows users to scroll through the document while navigating. This way, it offers a more comfortable solution for rally navigation usign just the mobile phone, without the need for special equipment. The user can also easily edit the generated document by double tapping on any area of the roadbook and choosing the desired option from a drop down list.
Revenue Streams
Roadbook Recorder's revenue comes from the roadbook generations that are carried out through the implemented application.
For a user, the first 3 roadbook generations are free. After that, all generations will be paid for.
Our application will also host advertisements. Apart from basic roadbook generation, some extra features will be paid for. These features are:
downloading a PDF version of the generated roadbook.
editing a generated roadbook.
Cost Stucture
Our cost structure is value-driven - Roadbook Recorder wishes to provide a better solution for roadbook generation and manipulation, compared to what the competition is offering. Our costs are fixed per roadbook generation and special features.

We reached out to a few groups of bikers and we asked them to fill in a form for us. With this form that we shared, we were loooking to find out about these people's experiences with roadbook navigation.
First, we were interested in seeing how many of these motorsport enthusiasts have actually used a roadbook before. For those who gave a positive response, we asked about the context in which they used the roadbook - was it just for personal use or was it for an organized event? We also asked about the way these people got their roadbooks - did they personally generate them, or were they given to them? For those who said they never used a roadbook before, we wanted to know the reason why - was it lack of interest, or lack of knowledge / resources?

Lead generation and collection
As for the lead collection section, on the landing page we collect email addresses with a subscribe form. The email addresses are collected in Segment and then the data is aggregated in Amplitude. Below are two pictures of the email collection in Segment and of the User Activity in Amplitude.
MVP - Android Application
The MVP of our solution curently allows generating a simple roadbook with a simple interface to navigate. Editing the roadbook is also possible in the way of changing the symbols.
